University of New Mexico, Masters Degree in Counseling

University of Maryland, Bachelors Degree in Psychology

My intention is to provide personalized and/or group based integrative counseling focusing on mental health and lifestyle issues to best address individual unique needs. I have 14 years clinical experience in university hospital outpatient mental healthcare, providing counseling to individuals experiencing substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, as well as issues related to low self-esteem and health challenges.  I recognize that mental health issues often have complex personal and environmental contributing factors; in my experience, inter-personal trust is essential to the success of the counseling relationship.

I have training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based CBT, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Strength Based Therapy, PTSD treatment, Motivational Interviewing, Pain management and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. I am also experienced in providing group therapy for depression and anxiety as well as general mental and physical health issues.

When not working, I enjoy running, hiking with my dogs, travelling to new destinations, and cooking for family and friends.  I have enjoyed the opportunity to have lived in several foreign countries and have great appreciation for cultural diversity.  I am fluent speaking Japanese.
