Depression

Depression affects every area of a person's life.  It is pervasive because it can start out as a minor mood problem and then if left untreated can affect sleep, energy level, interest in activities, family relationships, friendships and lead to job loss.  It can affect a person’s ability to focus and concentrate, affect appetite, affect the ability to move, and lead to increased feelings of guilt, hopelessness and worthlessness.  The most serious aspects of depression can affect a person’s thinking leading to thoughts of self harming behaviors, harming others, thoughts of suicide and even cause hallucinations.  There are many options available for treatment including many medication options, vitamin and herbal supplement augmentation and more invasive treatments such as ketamine, TMS and ECT treatments.
